For the full schedule and prize list, please see our Rules and Regulations - the initial qualifier events are on the 12th & 13th of June. The main goal of the tournament is to attract new players to the game of chess and show that there is a thriving online chess community in Scotland. We want players to have fun and enjoy the competition.

To enter, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Sign up to Lichess.org. To take part you need to create an account on Lichess. If you already have a Lichess account then you must use your existing one. Lichess is one of the most popular websites to play chess on and is completely free. To register an account please use this link.

  2. Enable “Kid Mode” (Optional). This means your child cannot send or receive messages from anyone – ensuring online safety. To turn this mode on, login to your account, click on your username in the top right, click preferences and select “Kid mode”. It is parents’ responsibility to monitor their child’s use of Lichess.

  3. Get a rating. Once signed up, players need to play 10 Rapid games to obtain a Lichess Rapid rating. We recommend playing 10+0 games. By playing these games, players will obtain a rating which will help them enter the appropriate section.

  4. Join our Lichess Page. Use this link to join our club page on Lichess.

  5. Sign up to our mailing list. By filling out this form you will provide us with your child’s details for the tournament and you will receive updates and instructions for the tournament.

  6. Join our Social Media Channels (Optional). Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates.

The entry deadline is the 1st of June. Please enter as early as possible.

If you have any problems or queries with the above instructions feel free to email me at andrew@edinburghchessacademy.com and I will be happy to help.
